Feathers of Maat
Story of the Design
Pharaohs revered "Maat", an ancient deity symbolizing truth, morality, and justice. Maat's role was pivotal in the afterlife, where souls were judged against the "42 Negative Confessions" to attain transcendence. In our design, Maat's feathers represent these confessions, with the heart weighed against them for passage to the afterlife. Unworthy hearts faced condemnation by the devourer of the dead, goddess "Ammit", in the underworld, which is called the "Duat".
